Web Evaluation Tutorial for Students

(Important Note: click restart to get the tutorial to play) This is part of the curriculum for Information Literacy- it's a great tutorial that walks the viewer through evaluation of websites. It's worth a look, even just to use as a springboard for discussion with your classes before they conduct internet research.

Enter the Group
At Enter the Group you can create a classroom site with ready made widgets for Assignments, Events, Messages, and more. Here your students will be able to interact with you and other students and join project groups where they can keep track of work. Enter the Group also has an online calendar, project tools, a place to blog, surveys for you to create, and this is all FREE!

Comic Master
Comic Master can be used to create your own graphic novels, which are printable. The site requires a login to save, but it is free to use. It also includes resources for teachers.

Free, Legal Image Sites
An article that includes links to five sites that offer free, legal images to use in class projects, etc. Google images is great, but anything that is published online needs to be legal, so that you/your students don't get scolded for copyright infringement. If you are planning to do any web publishing, it's a good idea to consult these sites for images.

Teacher's First Classroom Resources
A searchable collection of web resources, lessons and ideas for integrating technology into the classroom. Also offers a free subscription, so they can email you new resource lists each week. Great for all subject areas.

Quest Garden
A searchable database of free webquests created and shared by other educators.

Channel One News

A site with breaking news, homework help, current events and other content that can be viewed on computers in the school. The content is not blocked by the DOE. Subscription is free.
